here are some more pictures from noah's birthday! it was such a great party and so many people were able to come celebrate with us.

What a Month!

man, i miss blogging! i love to blog and have been pretty good about being consistent with it but lately, there has been SO MUCH stuff going on in our lives that i haven't been sure if i wanted to write it all down. i feel like since this one thing has pretty much consumed my life this past month or so, it'll be ok to write about it.

ammon and i found out a month ago that i was pregnant and boy were we excited!! a few days later i started bleeding and got into my doctor. he said that some women bleed early in pregnancy but that he wanted to take blood to check my hormone levels to make sure that they were going up properly. i also had to get the rhogam shot because i have negative blood and ammon has positive blood and if the baby had positive blood and it mixed with mine, my body would build up antibodies and if my next baby had positive blood, my body would fight and reject it. i stopped bleeding that week and had no pain whatsoever so, we thought that maybe things would be ok. i continued to go in a couple times a week to get blood drawn and have internal ultrasounds done and my hormone levels were not rising as they should and the doctor told us that one of two things was happening. either i miscarried and my levels would start to go down real soon or, it was an ectopic pregnancy. he said that ectopic pregnancies are rare and as soon as he said that, i was sure that's what it was. yadda yadda yadda... my levels kept going up but not enough to support a pregnancy and my left tube started to swell. it was very painful for one day but then the pain subsided. when i went in yesterday for my ultrasound, the ectopic pregnancy was confirmed in my left tube so the doctor sent me over to the hospital to get a shot of methotrexate, a form of chemo. it stops cells from dividing and is supposed to get rid of this pregnancy. see, the worry is that the pregnancy will get too large and rupture my fallopian tube and then i start to bleed internally. apparently women used to die from ectopic pregnancies. anyway, got the shot yesterday, one shot in each hip and now we just wait for levels to hopefully go down. i get blood checked on friday and again next tuesday and if they're not going down by then, we either try the shot again or we have to do surgery. it has been one scary and frustrating month but, i think we're ok. i just try to focus on my family and hope for the best. i just found out that if this shot works, i still have to wait at least 3 months to try and get pregant so none of it is in my system... i sure hope nothing is wrong with my left tube... i would hate to go through all of this again.

ammon got a new job and is liking it so far. noah and i have been adjusting to life without daddy during the day and we miss him a lot. he gets to come home for lunch which is so nice. it is so sweet to see the way that noah interacts with his daddy.

noah learned 2 new words today!!! this morning he learned to say, "thank you" and tonight he said, "hot dog". we got the thank you on video but not the hot dog. i tried to put the video on the computer but somehow, it didn't transfer the sound with the video. i think sound is probably important for that clip so i'll give that job to ammon and hopefully have it up soon. noah is so smart and learning more and more everyday. i love staying home with him and teaching him and watching him learn.

so, that's our month for ya. i'll update on medical stuff when i hear from the doctor next week.

Noah Emerson

i cannot believe that my baby is 1!

at 1 year these are the things he's saying: uh oh, light, mom, dad, hot, fish, duck, boat

these are some things he's doing: claps when you say, "yay", waves bye-bye, knows where every power button to all of dad's toys are, takes 2-3 steps at a time, gives you "five", brushes his own teeth (all 8 of them), entertains himself for a long time with books, knows what i'm saying but likes to test the boundaries, opens the drawer in the kitchen to take every single straw out (everyday), if you say, "tickle tickle", he'll start tickling you... so cute! he sings with me cuddles up to me around bedtime.

things he loves to eat: ramen, cheese, chicken, applesauce, green beans (still baby food kind), and of course, chocolate! he is definitely his father's child...

i love him more and more all the time and sometimes i really think i might burst!

6 Additions to the Family

the huff's are moving and asked us if we wanted their fish tank. noah liked looking at them over at their house so, we said sure. we got it all set up and noah has learned how to say "fish". we have 6 fish but, i'm not sure how long we'll have all of them. see, noah likes to smack the glass and it stresses these poor little fish out. i really think he might give them little fish heart attacks.

i put some scrapbooking paper behind it to make it look cool.

the happy people

Our little family has been hit hard with sickness the past 2 weeks. At first, Noah was sick and then as he was starting to get better, Ammon and I caught it. We are finally starting to feel better and I couldn't be more thrilled. We decided to get out of the house today so we went to McDonald's and then walked around the Mayberry Mall for a bit. We bought some sidewalk chalk and came home and drew some masterpieces. Noah just crawled around on the cement (ouch) and sat in all of the drawings. It felt so great to get out for a bit!

News

Good News: Noah is FINALLY feeling better and I am so glad. It's the worst when your baby is sick. I did like all the snuggles I got while he wasn't feeling well. Still, I'd rather him be happy and healthy.

Bad News: Noah shared his sickness with Ammon and I and we've been sick for quite a few days now. Noah was sick for about a week so, I'm guessing we still have a couple days of feeling lousy ahead of us.

Good News: Being home this past week has allowed me to get a few homemade Christmas gifts started.

Bad News: Ammon and I were scheduled to go to the temple yesterday but couldn't. :(

noah's 1st birthday is coming up soon and i had the thought to get a silhouette done of him. i think it is so classic and yet, modern at the same time. i like things like that... things that defy time or age.

Adorable!

So, I have been doing a lot of blog browsing lately and someone had posted these adorable felt cookies! Nanacompany makes them and sells them on Etsy but, I'm thinking I could recreate them. I'm not sure if it's ok to do that... thoughts?

Brain Lateralization

Brain Lateralization Test Results
Right Brain (38%) The right hemisphere is the visual, figurative, artistic, and intuitive side of the brain.
Left Brain (66%) The left hemisphere is the logical, articulate, assertive, and practical side of the brain
Are You Right or Left Brained?
personality tests by similarminds.com

Left brain dominant individuals are more orderly, literal, articulate, and to the point. They are good at understanding directions and anything that is explicit and logical. They can have trouble comprehending emotions and abstract concepts, they can feel lost when things are not clear, doubting anything that is not stated and proven.

Right brain dominant individuals are more visual and intuitive. They are better at summarizing multiple points, picking up on what's not said, visualizing things, and making things up. They can lack attention to detail, directness, organization, and the ability to explain their ideas verbally, leaving them unable to communicate effectively.

Overall you appear to be Left Brain Dominant

The Tissue Incident

so, noah has had a runny nose the past few days but, it hasn't really bothered him until today. poor thing had a slight fever and seemed to be more clumsy than usual today. this evening, i could tell he really wasn't feeling well so, i got his pacifier and blanket out of his bed and let him have those. (he normally only gets those when he's in his crib) anyway, i was playing with him and noticed that he needed a tissue. ammon brought us the tissue box and i took one out, cleaned noah up and then we went back to playing. he seemed to be happy so, i let him play by himself and i went to check something on the computer. a few minutes later, ammon and i hear something and we turn around to find noah surrounded by tissues and pulling more and more out of the box. i snapped some pictures and took the box away and then he started to pick up the tissues and tear them into shreds. truth be told, there is still a huge mess of tissues on my living room floor.

My little cowboy!

noah went to his very first rodeo last night! he was able to ride on a pony for the first time and seemed to be just fine with it. he rode thunder first and then, after gigi found a hat that was noah's size, we went back and he rode on okey. he was such a good boy while we were there. he normally goes to sleep around 8:00 and he didn't get to his crib until 11:00ish.

on another note, noah attended his first kindermusik class yesterday as well. it was a free class and noah loved it. he got to play with different instruments and scarves and see some friends. i think we'll enroll him in a class this fall. i can't wait for the "soccer mom" stage but, kindermusik mom will do for now.

as always, click on the pictures to make them bigger.

Beans Beans...

...the musical fruit. The more you eat, the more you toot. The more you toot the better you feel so let's have beans for every meal! (one of those things i learned from my dear mother) :-P

Ginger, Joni, and I canned green beans today! I think I have helped can with my mom before but, i don't really remember it much. I must've been little. Anyway, I had fun. We did 2 different kinds of beans, snap and string. At the end of it all, I was able to take home 9 quarts of green beans!

Lovin' the Lovesac

When we got our new couches, our lovesac was put into Noah's room. He hasn't really enjoyed it much... until today! His dad was tossing him all around and then Noah was crawling all over it and giving it "loves". I love this little man so much. He is growing up so fast and his new haircut makes him look so much older!! He's been a little ornery these past few days... maybe cutting some molars? Oh well, I love him just the same. Click on the pictures to make them bigger. They are much cuter when they're big.

Catch up...

Just a picture of Ammon and I...

Life has been busy lately... Ammon, Noah and I all went to Ohio last Thursday because my best friend, Corey, got married in the Columbus, Ohio temple! We were able to stay with my sister, Laurie, and her husband Jeremy and it was so great to see them. The wedding was great and I was able to see quite a few people that I haven't seen in a very long time! Corey looked beautiful (as always) and was so happy! The ride in the car was terrible... Noah is the best baby I've ever seen but his one "thing" is that he HATES the car. He is fine for the first 20-25 minutes and then it is just straight crying and screaming. This makes for a very stressful 7 1/2 hour ride... sheesh! He only slept for 30 minutes the whole ride up there! We decided to drive at night on the way back and he only cried for the first 2 hours and then finally fell asleep. I guess we need to invest in a portable dvd player so we can pump some baby einstein out when things get rough.

Today I drove to Greenville, SC to meet Michelle, Toby, and Josh. Josh had spent some time down in Georgia and I helped with some of the drive to get him back home. It was so nice to talk with Josh the 3 hours back to my house. I don't talk to him enough and he really is such a cool kid. I can't believe that he turns 14 on Saturday! My little buddy... aww. Love you!
