No one fear, Ammon is here!

Ok, so Jess said that I never post and so she laid claim to our blog. I thought I would post and reclaim my part. :-)
I thought I would start off my posts with a joke. I hear starting out with a joke is the way to go. If you know me at all, you know that I like intellectual discussions so I found a joke that would incorporate the two.

With that I would like to share a quote with you:

"both warming and cooling occurred numerous times before the Industrial Revolution. Similarly, all the dire predictions of global-warming consequences - sea-level rise, for example - have happened in the past. In fact, the greatest warming period was when dinosaurs walked the land (about 70 million to 130 million years ago). There was then five to 10 times as much CO2 in the atmosphere as there is today, and the average temperature was 4-11 degrees Celsius warmer. Those conditions should have been very helpful to life, since they permitted those immense creatures to find an abundance of food and they survived. "

I would love to have someone try and prove the whole "global warming" thing to me. Just a warning though, make sure you know what you are talking about before you start talking.

My Little Monkey

Has anyone seen Curious George, the movie? It's really adorable. I let Noah watch it one time and now it is his absolute favorite movie. It holds his attention for a long time! He would watch it over and over if I would let him He laughs and watches so intently. He likes it best if I watch it with him but I can only stand so much George. I was happy when he chose this movie to be his favorite because I thought I could never get tired of it. I still like it but, it's beginning to get a little old.

This is his favorite part of the movie. George is in Ms. Plushbottom's apartment having fun with paint and popping bubbles. He laughs every time.

These are 2 separate days. This bottom picture cracks me up. He's just chillin. Holding on to my hoodie and chillin. If you haven't seen it, I would definitely recommend it. It makes me smile. Ü

Christmas Card

The front of our Christmas card this year.

Finally!

The past four days have been rough days for napping. I don't know what happened but Noah refuses to nap. He used to go with absolutely no problem at all. No protesting or anything. Lately, he screams and screams until I give in and let him get back up. I've put him down probably 6 times per day trying to get him to nap because he's so sleepy, rubbing his face on everything. I let him scream for 30 minutes straight and he didn't let up at all. Poor kid. Anyway, I plopped him on this chair after getting him out of his crib. Curious George was almost over and I went to sit at the computer. I look over 5 minutes later and this is what I saw. My little man actually fell asleep! This guy has never done this. And he didn't wake up when I took a picture. (that's amazing) And I got him to his bed without him protesting! Victory! I'm really hoping that things will be back to normal tomorrow.

A Night Out

We had a fun night tonight. Will and Ginger came over and we drove down to Clemmons (45 minute drive) and ate at the cracker barrel. I had their chicken 'n dumplings and they were so yummy! Noah really enjoyed dinner and made us all laugh with his methodical play. This kid seriously wants everything a certain way. He moved all the silverware to one side of the table, all in a row, and then moved it all to the other side the same way. He did that a few times and then he moved on to one of those triangle peg games, you know what I'm talking about, the ones that you have to keep jumping pegs to only have one peg left. Anyway, he would take them all out and lay them the same way. And if Pap would stand one up, Noah would put it right back down on its' side. He does things like this at home too. It is his favorite way to play and learn. Anyway, after dinner we went to the Tanglewood Festival of Lights. It was so neat! We drove through this huge park to look at the amazing light display they had set up. Noah enjoyed sitting up front with Ammon and I. He helped Ammon shift, steer, turn the brights on, the windshield wipers on and even honk the horn. He sure was a good helper! He really enjoyed it. We were listening to the Appalachian State game on the radio and at halftime, I believe the score was 21 to 7! I'm not sure how the game turned out though... Back to the lights, they had so many different displays it was really quite amazing. I think my favorite display was 2 elves lighting fireworks and then seeing all the different fireworks go off. Pretty cool. Noah was such a good boy. We got home 2 1/2 hours after his bedtime and even though he was exhausted, he was such a good sport. I was really proud of him. Thanks Gigi and Pap for a fun night!

I'd buy this!

The Owl and the Astronaut

I feel like I haven't been blogging much lately. I want to but nothing really interesting is going on here. Unless, of course, you want to hear about our bathtub not draining, our dishwasher leaking or Noah being so sick with rsv...

I was going through some old pictures and came across these that were taken in October. Ammon and I got a family membership to Sciworks which is a Science Museum in Winston-Salem. Ammon used to go there all the time as a kid and they have all sorts of cool science exhibits. They even have a planetarium! Noah really enjoyed it and we want to go back soon. Maybe once he starts feeling better we can go. And if any of you come to visit, you can come too!

Operation Slim Down

I ate WAY too much over the Thanksgiving holiday. WAY WAY too much. It didn't help that Andrew had me make 4 batches of my spinach artichoke dip. So yummy! Everyone brought food and it was all so great! I really felt like I had gained 30 pounds so Ammon and I joined the gym on Tuesday! For Mothers' Day, my mother-in-law got me a 3 month membership and I loved going. I loved how I felt after going to a pilates or turbokick class. Ammon and I will be able to go together which I think will be so fun! We can play racquetball, go swimming, do a class, lift weights and so much more. I really like this facility and they have babysitting at no extra charge! Now I really have no excuse not to do something about my weight. Wish me luck!

Thanksgiving Part 2

We played guitar hero ALL weekend! I went from medium difficulty to hard difficulty but was having trouble with the fifth button so Ammon had to help me out. We rock!

These boys absolutely ADORE their Poppy. Noah wanted Poppy to hold him or play with him all weekend. Alotta love goin' on!

Thanksgiving Part 1

So, I still haven't figured out how to put more than 4 pictures on a post at one time. I know I've done it in the past but now that I use Picasa to upload pictures, I forgot. Anyway, Thanksgiving this year was so much fun! My whole family was there except for Megan and boy was she missed! In addition to that, 2 uncles, 2 aunts, 3 cousins, one grandma, and one great-aunt were all there too! Noah had a blast and really warmed up to everyone. He loved roaming the house (trying to find Poppy most of the time). He learned how to say "dog" this trip and Aunt Beth taught him how to say, "google"! Haha... that was cute.

Meeting Shammie (again)

Noah's cousin, Alli, read him a bedtime story

Making music with cousin Toby

It's fun on Nana and Poppy's bed!

I Miss You!

Thinking about my family today... I get to see most of them next week and I'm about to burst! I miss my nieces and all the funny little things they say. I miss practicing guitar hero with Josh. I miss being there when my dad decided to burst out in song. Or dance. (yeah, he does that) I miss talking with my mom and making something yummy in the kitchen. I miss snuggling up to Shammie and having her lay her head on my leg. I miss watching sports on tv with the boys. I miss reminiscing with Michelle and laughing so hard that it hurts. I miss playing the piano. I miss my Toby and feel like I won't even recognize him when I see him. I miss Laurie. She's so pretty. I miss talking to her and shopping with her. I miss the feeling of having so many awesome people in the same place! Sheesh, it's a good thing I get to see them soon because I miss them a lot.

Meg- I wish you could be there too. I miss you tons and hope you'll spend time with me when Christmas rolls around. Ü

Ah Snap!

Ammon had a meeting with the bishop at 8:45 this morning and church starts at 9:30. Noah woke up around 7:30 and we were ready and left the house around 9:20. I pass a bank on the way to church and it said 8:23 and I remember thinking that they should really change their time because they were going to confuse people. Then I pull into the church parking lot and no one is there! I remember looking at the clock and it said 9:26 and I thought to myself that everyone needs to hurry up because church was starting in 4 minutes! I pull around back and I saw Ammon's car and the bishop's car and maybe 2 others. I thought it was strange but went in anyway. When I walked in the building, it hit me... daylight savings!! What an idiot! So 4 hours of church for our family today... My favorite day of the year and I totally spaced it. Ammon said it was mentioned at work this past week but he forgot. Hey Mom, you usually remind me to set my clocks back or forward... what happened? Ü just kidding.

p.s. it's not my favorite day of the year but, i REALLY enjoy that extra hour of sleep.

Post-Nap Love

When Noah gets up from his nap, he needs to have a little snuggle time before he's ready to play or destroy something. I love these times because my little guy isn't super snuggly. Ammon was home when Noah woke up from his nap a few days ago and I was able to capture one of these sweet moments. Oh how I love these two boys!

Dinner by the Creek #2

So, apparently Blogger hates me... It won't let me upload pictures through Blogger. I have to use Picasa, which is fine but then I can only have 4 pictures on a post. Maybe I shouldn't take so many pictures? Nah... This is a continuation from the last post. More of my boys playing in the creek.

Dinner by the Creek

Noah was getting fussy this evening so, I decided that we'd go pick up some dinner at Bojangles, meet Ammon at work and then go to the park to eat. We ate and then went down to the creek so Noah could play a little.

He started out with his pants on but wanted in the water so badly!

They were throwing acorns in and Noah was pointing at them.

I'm not sure what they're looking at in this one but, I thought it was sweet.

Throwing more acorns in!

A Flower for YOU!!

I'm focusing on making Christmas presents this year and some people already know about these so, I figured I could post about them. I covered fabric buttons and then I took Ammon's needle nose pliers and ripped out the hook thingie on the back and attached a magnet. So now I have these pretty magnets! A few days ago, I made a flower for my dear husband. (act surprised if you get some of these lovelies for christmas)

Sleeping through Conference

We went up to Will & Ginger's for General Conference and Noah was being a turd. He was so exhausted but refused to fall asleep in the pack-n-play. We tried quite a few times and he wasn't having it. Ginger took him outside on the deck and pushed him back and forth in their stroller. She had been out there awhile and when i looked out the window, this is what I saw. What a sweetie. We hardly have any sleeping pictures of Noah because he will usually only sleep in his bed by himself. He is a light sleeper and has to sleep with a fan. I go in almost every night and watch him sleep. He always looks so peaceful... good stuff.

It's Fun to Teach Kids New Things

this is noah scrunching up his face and breathing in and out of his nose real quickly. what a nut!

Yippee!

I can't believe I forgot to blog this! My doctors office called on Wednesday and told me that my hormone levels were at 1.7!! They originally wanted them to get below 5 which is a non-pregnant level. They have gone down very quickly and I am so thrilled that I didn't need to get the shot again or have surgery. I am so grateful that I have a wonderful doctor and I'm also grateful for his staff. They've been so great with me through all this and every time i went in to get blood work done, they only had to stick me once! That's never happened before.
